1. Keep Christmas With You
I took down my Christmas decorations and one tree* last week. I think my latest take down to date was somewhere around February 14th. This year, the event only took place before February because I needed the tree space for my Super Bowl party.
*Yes, only one. Last year, I bought the cutest pencil tree to go in the corner of my dining room and no one can convince me it doesn’t compliment the room year-round.
2. Super Bowl Party?
Yes, dear friends who understand that I do not care one ounce about football, I had a Super Bowl party and I’ll tell you why. Several years ago, my brother-from-another-mother, Andrew, insisted on coming over my house for the Super Bowl. I remember this night vividly because Hubby wanted to make gourmet snacks for the event and all I wanted to do was watch Gone Girl. Since then, I’ve been forced to host a Super Bowl party every year. Every year, that is, except for last year.
3. Last Year
Gram’s birthday happens to fall right around the Super Bowl. We try to celebrate her as a family because the woman is in her 80s and is still rocking life like she is in her 40s. So, when birthday celebration plans were made for a Sunday evening in February, I thought nothing of it. Until about a week before when Andrew asked what the plan was for the Super Bowl party. Then I panicked.
4. Gram’s Birthday
Gram turns 87 this weekend and I’m making two cakes because I have absolutely no chill. I’ll be making her favorite, a twist on Strawberry Shortcake, and this White Russian cake from King Arthur which I made for Hubby’s birthday a few years ago.
I don’t look forward to making this cake…but I do look forward to eating it.
