Here we are. We made it. It’s the final day of January*. Things can only get brighter and warmer from here.
*Can you tell I’m done with the cold weather? Normally, I’m much more tolerant, but weather extremes seem to be a weakness for me lately.
It’s been a minute since we’ve had a Four for Friday, so here you go…
1. Heated Blanket
My heated blanket is the only way I am surviving the cold. If you don’t own one, I highly recommend one for days when you can’t shake the cold.
Even the dogs are in love with it.
2. Gummy Candy
Years ago, with the hope of encouraging a healthier lifestyle, my New Year resolution was to give up an unhealthy, personal demon of a food each month. One month it was hot wings. Another ice cream, etc. etc. etc. When the month ended, I could once again enjoy them.
My brother, Andrew, and I share an addiction to gummies. Nope, not those. These…
My brother, Jon, who did not give up gummy candy, buying gummy candy with abandon.
When Andrew said he wanted to give up something sugar related every month* and selected to start with gummy candy, I said I’d join him.
*Only…he wants to give it up and keep it given up until the end of the year with cheat days allowed once a month**.
**I’m not sure I will survive.
3. Pup Cup
My Starbucks has stepped up its pup cup game recently and it felt too adorable not to share.
It’s the little things that make life sweet, right?
The more time I spend with my dogs, the more certain I am that we humans do not deserve them.
Since we’re on the subject, can we talk about these PERFECT dog treats my SIL spoiled my pups with at Christmas?
4. Oroblanco
One New Year I also made a resolution to try a new fruit or vegetable every month. I think I lasted four months because it took more time and effort than I was willing to put in*. Now we purchase new-to-us fruits or veggies at random, and they may or may not get explored**.
*You have to shop, research, do more research, decide how you will eat it…it was just too much.
**And they may or may not rot on the counter before we’ve had time. The intentions are there, but the follow through, not always.
Lance insisted on purchasing these fellas during one of our recent Costco trips*:
*Please tell me that you and yours also go to Costco more than once a month. It’s madness, but I am here for it.
Labeled as Sweeties, these are also known as Oroblanco which is a citrus hybrid of pomelo and marsh grapefruit. I’m definitely not a grapefruit person, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. We didn’t even attempt to eat the fruit, instead, we juiced one. It was sweet at the front and bitter at the back, but not overwhelmingly bitter.
But also not underwhelmingly bitter enough that we wanted to just drink straight Oroblanco juice.
Instead, Lance has been making cocktails with the juice…and that seems to be where it shines.
