Last week, when Hubby texted me, “You trying to go to Baltimore to try and buy this jersey I want on Saturday?” from his office whose door is in view from my writing desk, my immediate response was, “Absolutely I am.”
The jersey has very little, albeit everything, to do with the trip. Baltimore is a city we’ve loved for quite some time now. We first visited many years ago on a cold Valentine’s Day weekend where we fell in love with the harbor, the shopping, the restaurants, the aquarium, the people—it’s all our perfect fit.
And this impromptu day trip did not disappoint.
Food is, of course, the main event of any trip and if you don’t understand this comment, I’m not sure we can be friends*. Of the lunch options Hubby gave me, Bunny’s Buckets & Bubbles stood out.
*Okay, we can, but we’ll have to have a serious talk at some point.
Woodin’ It Be Spice and Good Morning, Baltimore
Over in Fells Point, our favorite little area to hang out, Bunny’s welcomes visitors with an instant view of their rather large bar area and an invitation to “Drink Bubbles.” They had me at bubbles, but when I saw they also did fried chicken* I was sold.
*Federal Donuts is my OG for combining fried chicken with other cherished food items.
Possibly the best cocktail of my life: Briddle Me This, jam packed with praline flavor
We started with cocktails at their standing bar while waiting for a table because we decided to play with fate and show up without a resy. After barely 15 minutes, we had a table and proceeded to order two starters, more cocktails, and our entrees.
We live a life of ands not ors*.
*Thank you, Joe Gatto of Impractical Jokers, for these words. They have changed my life.
When it comes to brunch, I’m picky. Case and point: I’ve brunched in NYC many times and have yet to find a brunch spot that really impresses me. When it comes to brunch and cocktails, the worst reaction is to leave thinking: I could’ve done this better at home. Which is kind of easy to have happen with ingredients like eggs and champagne.
But not at Bunny’s. The drinks were well thought out and delicately crafted flavors. And the food? I could’ve been satisfied with their Waffle Fry Brunch Poutine alone; the cheese was so gooey and the gravy full flavored. But the real winner was the Chicken/Waffle Sammie that Hubby ordered. Just think: the best chicken and waffles of your life, made even easier to eat by sandwich magic.
Let’s just say, it’s probably for the best Bunny’s isn’t nearby. Because I’d be brunching every weekend.

I loved the video your mom sent of the writers read!!! You didn’t seem nervous at all. So cool about your Baltimore trip ! It made me smile and laugh and get hungry for fried chicken, a meal my mom made often. Thanks for writing 😊
