A year is a contradictory thing. When you’re in it, it feels long–especially if it’s been a difficult year. When it’s over, it seems infinitesimal–as if all the things which happened during that year couldn’t have possibly happened less than twelve months ago.
Here are my large and small moments of 2023:
Lance and I celebrated our friend’s birthday at the Starland Ballroom in January and I was reminded that: 1.) I do not like alternative rock even if the songs are ones I know all the words to and 2.) I (still) am not someone who enjoys a concert scene unless it involves an orchestra.
We had a cozy Valentine’s Day at home.
I went to Lambertville/New Hope several times. On this occasion in March I sported my first pair of Jordans*.
*Still not a super fan, but I appreciate the craftsmanship and beauty of each pair.
Jon and I took several walks around Princeton. This one comes from a sunny April day.
I graduated! (…and was reminded that people are still the main virus we’re facing.)
I was dragged to Fenway Park and had a surprisingly wonderful time.
In June, we aggresively started training Lilo and Stitch.
We found a little friend in our pool, named him Botticelli, and visited with him often during the summer.
We visited a winery in a “castle.”
We bottled our wine!
I visited with Frenchies our friend, Drew, was dog sitting.
I made Danish dough, which is slightly, but not that different, from croissant dough.
Meet Tito. We met in the summer and became besties in the fall.
Dogs are really the highlight of my year, don’t you think?
Training never ceased.
I had a cozy little Christmas.
