I’ve gotten back into the swing of things with blogging, which includes making a blog calendar and feeling pretty proud that I can plot out things to write about weeks ahead of ever actually writing them.
And then a week like this week hits me and all my planning flies out the window.
But, like my girl Gloria Gaynor said, I will survive—maybe a little worse for wear, but I’ll survive.
I love looking through the pictures on my phone to remember just how good things have been, because sometimes, when you rely on present memory alone, you start thinking how bad things are: Enter today’s Four for Friday to help keep present the good things recently past.
1. Wine Club Membership
We had a night out with family in late January at a winery. We actually picked the winery because they have paella nights so…you can see where our loyalty lies. But while we were there, Hubby and I decided on a whim to join their wine club. So now, once a month, we drive to this winery, have a tasting, eat some food, and pick up wine.
It’s pretty wonderful.
2. Harry Potter Exhibition
My book club planned a trip to the Harry Potter Exhibition at The Franklin Institute. Having gone to previous exhibitions there* in the past, I knew it was not to be missed.
*My favorite, by far, was the Chronicles of Narnia exhibition I took Jon to. Not only was it well done, but I have such fond memories of our time together there, including him grabbing my arm as we entered Narnia from the inside of the wardrobe and saying, “Don’t be scared, Gaga.”
I know I don’t have to say this, but if you’re a Harry Potter lover even to the smallest degree, you have to go. I think my favorite part was that you could go inside the cupboard under the stairs, aka, Harry’s bedroom.
3. Dinner with Friends
I got to see one of my favorite couples this weekend and we had dinner in New Hope. A restaurant we loved which served NOLA style cooking inside an old church* was recently sold and reopened as what they call “New-American flavors”, so of course we had to try it out.
*Awesome, I know. Perhaps I should mention here that I am secretly searching for a church for us to renovate into a house. Hubby hates this idea.
Sadly, we missed the flavors of NOLA.
Walking to after dinner drinks
Afterwards, we went to the cutest little bar over the bridge in Lambertville. Blog post entirely devoted to that cuteness to come.
4. Tolkien Reading Day
Did you know today is Tolkien Reading Day? I bought this “National Day Calendar” for my SIL for Christmas and then went back and bought another for myself because I loved it so much. Now I know all the random little celebrations for every single day of the month.
Though I am barely literate when it comes to the world of Tolkien, I can tell you what I relate to the most and that is the hobbit meal times*.
*Big surprise I know.
In case you are unfamiliar they are as follows*:
- Breakfast
- Second Breakfast
- Elevenses
- Luncheon
- Afternoon Tea
- Dinner
- Supper
*My only problem is, I think they’re missing one: Dessert.
If you hear that I’m having Supper after Dinner, please don’t judge.
