To my dear Faithful Readers*,
*Yes, all three of you.
July and August have been incredibly wild months. They’ve been constantly moving months. Months that keep going, forcing you to either grab a hold and ride the ferocious wave or find yourself coughing up saltwater, shaking the stinging from your nose, and swearing you’ll never dip a toe into such an unpredictable ocean again.
1. School
The main reason for my lack of blogging during these months has been a summer course I signed up for back at the beginning of March. You remember March, right? When we weren’t in quarantine and we didn’t need to wear masks everywhere we went. Yeah. I miss March.
My class was pretty intense: Three hours on Zoom, two times a week. This class was a guinea pig for me. A dipping my toes into the possibility of pursuing a Master’s degree.
And smack dab in the middle, we lost my mother-in-law. I feel as though ever since that day I have been stumbling in the dark, trying to find the light switch.
2. Baby
Three weeks later, during my final week of class, my first nephew was born.
And already I can feel our world beginning to change.
He is healthy and surrounded by so much love you might think it would smother him, but instead it makes him coo and yawn and smile—and I simply cannot get enough.

Jess, I’m so sorry to hear about your mother in law. I didn’t know she passed. Hope you and Lance are hanging in there.
