Remember that time I went on a food tour of the Bronx?
The day I returned home I was bummed I hadn’t bought any ravioli from Borgatti’s. It felt like a missed opportunity. And I hate missed opportunities.
While we were in the shop, they told us their products could be ordered online. This is a big thing nowadays. With the magic of the internet and lots of ice, we can have food delivered to us from places it would normally require far too much travel time.
I even started a category for this very thing here on the blog called ‘Through the Mail’ but it’s been a minute since I updated it.
Today this changes.
For the past year*, I have been receiving Borgatti’s ravioli through the mail.
*Since June 2019, to be exact.
Don’t be mad I kept it to myself all this time. Be happy I’ve shared it with you now.
Every three months, by the magic of delivery, two boxes, each containing 100 small Borgatti’s ravioli, show up at my front door. They have been a lifesaver on the nights I don’t have time or the desire to cook. My subscription is for a box of cheese and a box of meat and spinach ravioli. The cheese are my favorite*, but the meat ones are also full of yum.
*As has been the case for my entire life.
Due to COVID, Borgatti’s had to close down for a short period of time which made me sad for their business, sad for our world, and just plain sad*. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel because just this week, I received an email that they are reopening and beginning to send out orders as of May 18th.
*Pretty much the way I feel about every place which either has to be closed right now or doing things differently than normal.
Depending on where you live and what you order, shipping can be insane when ordering food through the mail, which is why I started their subscription plan. For a much more reasonable shipping cost, I have a meal* which continually shows up on my doorstep and provides me with options for those nights when the thought of cooking dinner makes me want to cry.
*Not just any meal. A handcrafted, gourmet quality, authentic Italian meal.
Order some ravioli*. Like Borgatti’s on Facebook. Plan a trip to the Bronx when this is all over**.
*I get nothing out of this, just the joy of sharing my love of food with you.
**I know I will.
