1. Shopping
My friends who love to shop, how have you been enduring Stay-at-Home? Have you been filling your tabs with online shopping? Or are you remaining strong and putting your focus elsewhere?
I have been better than I expected myself to be. Among my biggest purchases was this sweater which I had been eyeing up in Eastern Mountain Sports*. It is the thinnest, softest, coziest sweater and every time I saw it I would put it on and then tell myself, I do not need another sweater!
*You’re right. It is totally not a ‘me’ store. It is a Hubby store.
Clearly, past me had no idea what she was talking about.
Not that I need another bread book either, I also bought this book by Jeffrey Hamelman who led the baking course I took a few years ago at King Arthur Flour.
2. Quarantine, it’s everywhere
This felt odd and, quite frankly, a little out of place. Quarantine: a word I rarely noticed in print before last month. To see it in the novel I am currently reading made me jump the way I would if I saw a friend out in public: “Hey! I know you!”
3. Verbling
Last week, I recommended taking up a new language. Along my journey of learning Italian, I have utilized many resources. I started with Rosetta Stone, then downloaded the Duolingo app*, then started one-on-one lessons at an Italian school near Hubby’s work, and now I’m using Verbling.
*I have an 842-day streak!
I loved my in-person lessons, but it was starting to occupy too much time to drive an hour back and forth once a week for an hour lesson.
When I found Verbling, I was a little skeptical about continuing my language learning online. but eventually I signed up for a free lesson and loved it. I was looking for a system which had its own platform and didn’t utilize Skype for their lessons, and Verbling was perfect. They have even updated their platform since I started and it is only getting better.
4. West Paw
A few years ago, we found a new dog toy company we love: West Paw. Their dog toys are even stronger than Kong and we personally love the Zogoflex style which perfectly fits the chicken jerky we give Stitch as a treat.
I (or really, Stitch) recently became part of their “Chew Squad” and he was invited to test out a toy.
Stitch is loving being a guinea pig.
